How to use the DraftKings Sportsbook promo code for College Basketball Saturday

There are many exciting games this weekend, and the Saturday slate is filled with marquee matchups you won’t want to miss.

Here are the top 25 showdowns happening today:

  • No. 6 Tennessee (-1.5) at No. 7 Texas A&M at 11 AM CST
  • No. 8 Iowa State at No. 5 Houston (-9.5) at 1 PM CST
  • No. 17 Kentucky at No. 4 Alabama (-7.5) at 5 PM CST

To best utilize our DraftKings promo code, you should remember the $150 is already in your account. So, the best way to wager for this game is to bet as you normally would.

A line from this slate of games that I like is Tennessee -1.5 (-105) over Texas A&M. The Volunteers and Aggies are both defensive-minded teams but while Texas A&M is 52nd in KenPom’s offensive ratings and 5th in defensive rating, the Volunteers are 30th and 1st. They should be able to secure a win of two points or more.

Who is Joe Frazier?

Joe Frazier rose to fame as he was named the world’s heavyweight boxing champion in February of 1970 and upheld the title until January of 1973 when he was defeated by George Foreman.

Frazier was one of 12 children and grew up in Beaufort, South Carolina. After moving around in his late teens and early twenties, Frazier found himself working at a slaughterhouse in Philadelphia. Fast forward to 1961, Frazier stepped into the ring for the first time where he caught the attention of trainer Yank Durham.

With the help of Durham, Frazier improved his left look, leading him to become the Middle Atlantic Golden Gloves Champion—a title which he held for three years. In 1964, he competed in the Tokyo Olympics and brought home a gold medal.

Frazier is most well-known in the boxing world because of his years-long feud with fellow heavyweight boxer Muhammad Ali. Both Frazier and Ali respected each other, but it wasn’t much more than that.

The two first faced off against each other in New York’s Madison Square Garden in 1971. Three years later, they met again in the ring where Ali defeated Frazier. The foes faced each other one final time in 1975 in the Philippines. Called the “Thrilla in Manila,” this final battle is considered one of the sport’s most infamous fight to date.

Veteran wide receiver ‘really excited’ about Bryce Young

Quarterback Andy Dalton signed a two-year contract to return to the Carolina Panthers as Bryce Young’s backup, the NFL team announced on Tuesday.

The 14-year veteran and three-time Pro Bowler said the Panthers are turning the corner after seven consecutive losing seasons, and he wants to be part of it.

Dalton isn’t the only veteran who feels that way.

Adam Thielen has a season remaining on a three-year, $25 million contract, and although a hamstring injury caused the wide receiver to miss seven games during the 2024 season, the two-time Pro Bowler plans to return for his 12th NFL campaign.

“I feel good,” Thielen said while making the media rounds during Super Bowl Week. “I took two weeks off and got my energy back. Started training already. Spent a ton of time with my family. And just kind of thought about how the end of the season went, the progression, the things, the moves that the leadership in this organization are doing. I’m really excited about Bryce and what the future holds for this organization, and I want to be a part of it.”

After catching 103 passes for 1,014 yards and four touchdowns in Young’s rookie season, Thielen had 48 receptions for 615 yards and five touchdowns in 2024. In the final six games of the season, Thielen caught 37 passes for 449 yards and four touchdowns and recorded two 100-yard performances.

During those six games, Young completed 121-of-196 passes for 1,320 yards with 10 touchdowns and three interceptions.

RELATED: ALABAMA’S TOP 10 NFL PASSERS

Young joined the Panthers from Alabama as the first selection of the 2023 NFL Draft. He started 16 games as a rookie, and Carolina completed the season with only two victories. When the Panthers lost their first two games in 2024, they replaced Young in the lineup with Dalton.

After five starts, Dalton sustained a thumb injury in a traffic accident. Young returned to the starting spot and stayed there for the remaining 10 games. Carolina won four of the final nine to finish the season at 5-12.

“When he was truly able to be himself and to have that kind of energy,” Thielen said at the end of the season about Young, “and not necessarily from a verbal standpoint, but from body language, confidence — when he really started to buy in to that ‘You know what? I’m just going to be myself and I’m going to play free and just let it rip and have fun doing it,’ it really started to go through the team like a virus in a good way. And so you felt that as an individual and you felt that as an offense and as a team, and I think that’s why he had a lot of success towards the end of the year.”

Thielen has been Young’s favorite target in the quarterback’s two seasons. They have connected on 139 completions for 1,444 yards and seven touchdowns.

“He’s a guy who is confident when he can be himself,” Thielen said, “and he feels like he’s earned that right to be himself, good things happen, and he showed that towards the end of the year, which has given everybody in this organization confidence in him being the guy to take this team to the next level.”

Kentucky vs. Alabama predictions: Picks, best bets for Saturday’s big SEC battle

The Alabama Crimson Tide look to end a two-game losing streak on Saturday when they host SEC rival Kentucky. The Crimson Tide are 9.5-point home favorites on the betting odds at DraftKings Sportsbook with the total sitting at a wild 180.5 points.

The total is that high for a reason. The last time these two teams met on Jan. 18, Alabama won on the road 102-97. These are two of the highest-scoring teams teams in college basketball and both play at a fast pace.

Read our best bets for Saturday’s crucial SEC battle below.

Kentucky vs. Alabama predictions and picks

Note: Odds are based on the best value our experts find as of publication; check lines closer to game time to ensure you get the best odds.

It’s a new day in college basketball when team totals are not only over 90 points, but the bet to make is the over. That’s the reality here though with Alabama facing Kentucky’s defense.

The Crimson Tide scored 102 in the first matchup thanks in large part to converting 29-of-34 attempts from the foul line. I expect a repeat performance on Saturday in the rematch.

Alabama gets to the free throw line a lot and it was obvious in the first matchup that Kentucky’s defense couldn’t stop Mark Sears and the Crimson Tide guards when they drove to the basket. The result usually ended in two points or a foul.

This is a big total but Alabama has scored 85 or more points in 12 of its last 14 games. They should have little trouble hitting 90 against a Kentucky team that ranks 242nd in two-point field goal percentage defense.

The other bet to make is Grant Nelson over 12.5 points. While that number falls right on his average, Nelson dominated Kentucky in the first meeting with 25 points. He also went 9-of-10 from the free throw line.

The thing that makes Nelson so dangerous in this matchup is converting offensive rebounds into points and being the beneficiary of Sears driving to the basket. Sears had nine assists in the first meeting. Look for him to once again hurt the Wildcats off the dribble.

Nelson runs hot and cold in the scoring department but he tends to exploit favorable matchups. He has a favorable matchup on Saturday.

Kentucky vs. Alabama moneyline odds analysis

Why Alabama could win as the favorite

Best odds: -450 at FanDuel Sportsbook

This is Alabama’s kind of game. Both teams like to play fast and the Crimson Tide are at its best running and gunning for 40 minutes. Not many teams run with Alabama all game long and live to tell about it.

It’s also a great spot for the Crimson Tide coming off two losses. Alabama is going to be razor focused on Saturday to stop its two-game losing streak and they have the perfect matchup to do it. Kentucky simply allows too many easy baskets and like we saw in the first meeting, the Wildcats will need to outscore Alabama to win. That’s not an easy task.

Finally, Kentucky enters this game short-handed without starting guards Lamont Butler and Jaxon Robinson because of injuries. Both players were ruled out on Friday.

The Wildcats are deep but not having Butler and Robinson against a team the caliber of Alabama might be too much to overcome.

Why Kentucky could win as the underdog

Best odds: +390 at DraftKings Sportsbook

Kentucky has a puncher’s chance in this game because of Alabama’s shaky defense. The Wildcats did score 97 in the first meeting, although they were at full strength for that game.

The Crimson Tide were never going to be mistaken for a great defensive team, although the last two games have been particularly alarming. Alabama allowed 204 points in losses to Auburn and Missouri. Against Missouri, Alabama shot 64.7 percent from two-point range…and lost by 16.

The Wildcats’ road to a win in this matchup is two-fold. First, Kentucky needs Alabama to be ice cold from three-point range. We know the Crimson Tide will keep shooting threes even if they aren’t falling like we saw against Auburn when Alabama went 5-of-26 (19.2 percent) from deep.

The other path to victory for the Wildcats is their defense must play better than Alabama. It’s doubtful Kentucky will outscore the Tide minus two key players but if they can get some stops on the defensive end and force 10+ turnovers, they have a chance.

Brian Robinson Jr. nearing top 10 among Alabama high schools’ NFL rushers

For the third season in a row, Washington Commanders running back Brian Robinson Jr. had the most NFL rushing yards among players from Alabama high schools.

In every season of his career, the former Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa star has topped the group, and with 2,329 rushing yards after three seasons, the former Alabama ball-carrier is nearing the top 10 for NFL rushing yards by a former Alabama prep player.

Former Glenn High School and Alabama standout Bobby Humphrey holds the 10th spot on that list with 2,857 NFL rushing yards in his career.

Of the 10 former Alabama high school players with the most NFL rushing yards, at least one was on the field in every season from 1968 through 1995, including four in the 1980, 1981 and 1982 seasons. But in the past 13 seasons, only one of the top 10 has played, and in 2023 and 2024, there weren’t any.

Of the 333 players who recorded rushing attempts during the NFL’s 2024 season, seven came from Alabama high schools, and two joined Robinson in topping 100 rushing yards.

Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix (Pinson Valley) ran for 430 yards and four touchdowns on 92 carries in his rookie season, and Las Vegas Raiders running back Ameer Abdullah (Homewood) ran for 311 yards and two touchdowns on 66 carries in his 10th season. Abdullah is 6 rushing yards away from becoming the 17th player from an Alabama high school with 2,000 rushing yards.

The 10 players from Alabama high schools with the most NFL rushing yards are:

1. Antowain Smith: 6,881 rushing yards

Buffalo Bills 1997-2000, New England Patriots 2001-03, Tennessee Titans 2004, New Orleans Saints 2005: The former Stanhope Elmore standout averaged 3.9 yards on 1,784 carries and scored 54 rushing touchdowns during his career.

Smith played only one season of high school football, and he worked for two years to aid his grandparents after finishing high school. After his grandmother died, he followed her advice to further his education. His return to football started at East Mississippi Community College, which led to two seasons at Houston before joining the Bills as the 23rd selection in the 1997 NFL Draft.

Smith ran for 1,124 yards in his second season with the Bills. In 2001, he topped that with 1,157 yards for the Patriots, and Smith had 92 rushing yards in New England’s 20-17 victory over the St. Louis Rams in Super Bowl XXXVI to cap that campaign. Smith ran for 83 yards and one touchdown in the Patriots’ 32-29 victory over the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl XXXVIII two years later.

2. Joe Cribbs: 5,356 rushing yards

Buffalo Bills 1980-83, 1985, San Francisco 49ers 1986-87, Miami Dolphins 1988, Indianapolis Colts 1988: The former Sulligent and Auburn standout averaged 4.1 yards on 1,309 carries and scored 27 rushing touchdowns during his career.

Cribbs might have been No. 1 had he not played two seasons in the USFL. He ran for at least 1,097 yards in three of his first four seasons with Buffalo, missing 1,000 yards only in the strike-shortened 1982 season. He was the AFC Rookie of the Year in 1980 and went to the Pro Bowl three times.

Cribbs came home to play for the Birmingham Stallions of the USFL in 1984. After two seasons, the USFL folded. Cribbs returned to the NFL — going straight from the USFL’s spring/summer season to the NFL’s fall kickoff in 1985 — but in four more seasons, he added only 1,310 yards to his NFL rushing total.

During his two seasons in the USFL, Cribbs ran for 2,514 yards and led the league in rushing in 1984, but those yards don’t count in his NFL total.

3. Jordan Howard: 4,362 rushing yards

Chicago Bears 2016-18, Philadelphia Eagles 2019-20, 2021, Miami Dolphins 2020, New Orleans Saints 2022: The former Gardendale and UAB standout averaged 4.3 yards on 1,019 carries and scored 37 rushing touchdowns. Howard started his NFL career with back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons and received a Pro Bowl invitation as a rookie.

Former Alabama prep standouts have produced 10 1,000-yard rushing seasons, with Howard’s 1,313 yards in 2016 topping the list. The other 1,000-yard seasons were turned in by Joe Cribbs with three, Antowain Smith and Bobby Humphrey with two apiece and Carnell “Cadillac” Williams with one.

4. Carnell “Cadillac” Williams: 4,038 rushing yards

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 2005-10, St. Louis Rams 2011: The former Etowah and Auburn standout averaged 3.8 yards on 1,055 carries and scored 21 rushing touchdowns during his career. Williams was the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2005, when he ran for a career-high 1,178 yards.

5. Wilbur Jackson: 3,852 rushing yards

San Francisco 49ers 1974-79, Washington Redskins 1980-82: The former Carroll-Ozark and Alabama standout averaged 4.0 yards on 971 carries and scored 13 rushing touchdowns during his career. Jackson’s final three NFL seasons came when four of the top seven rushers on the high school list were active. Also playing at that time were Joe Cribbs, Rickey Young and Tony Nathan.

6. Rickey Young: 3,666 rushing yards

San Diego Chargers 1975-77, Minnesota Vikings 1978-83: The former Vigor standout averaged 3.6 yards on 1,011 carries and scored 23 rushing touchdowns during his career. Young was considered as much a threat coming out of the backfield as a receiver as he was as a runner. In 1978, he led the NFL with 88 receptions, which was the most for a running back in league history at the time.

7. Tony Nathan: 3,543 rushing yards

Miami Dolphins 1979-87: The former Woodlawn and Alabama standout averaged 4.8 yards on 732 carries and scored 16 rushing touchdowns during his career. Nathan finished his career with 49 more receiving yards than rushing yards and equaled his rushing TD total with 16 touchdown receptions.

8. Cid Edwards: 3,006 rushing yards

Los Angeles Rams 1968-71, San Diego Chargers 1972-74, Chicago Bears 1975: The former Selma standout averaged 4.3 yards on 698 carries and scored 15 rushing touchdowns during his career. A 230-pound fullback, Edwards was the first former Alabama high schooler to reach 3,000 rushing yards in the NFL.

9. Brad Baxter: 2,928 rushing yards

New York Jets 1989-95: The former Slocomb and Alabama State standout averaged 3.8 yards on 779 carries and scored 35 rushing touchdowns during his career. A 233-pounder, Baxter was the Jets’ fullback for six seasons.

10. Bobby Humphrey: 2,857 rushing yards

Denver Broncos 1989-91, Miami Dolphins 1992: The former Glenn and Alabama standout averaged 4.1 yards on 695 carries and scored 15 rushing touchdowns during his career. Humphrey’s first two NFL seasons were 1,000-yard campaigns.

In addition to the top 10 and Robinson, five other former Alabama high school players have more than 2,000 NFL rushing yards — Joe Childress (Robertsdale), Ronnie Coleman (Walker), Andra Franklin (Anniston), Bo Jackson (McAdory) and T.J. Yeldon (Daphne).
