Own one of these chargers from IKEA? They are being recalled
Ikea is recalling a brand of USB chargers because the cable can become damaged or break over time, posing burn and electric shock hazards.
According to a Feb. 22 announcement on the Consumer Product Safety Commission website, IKEA has received 17 incident reports international incident reports about hazards related to the chargers, including five reports of burns and four reports of electric shock. However, no incidents or injuries have been reported in the U.S.
This product recall involves IKEA Ã…SKSTORM 40W USB Chargers. The product consists of a charger and a detachable power cord with a C7 connector and a plug. The model number is ICPSW5-40-1. The charger was sold at IKEA stores nationwide and online at IKEA.com from April 2020 through December 2023 for about $30.
Consumers who own the charger should immediately stop using the recalled chargers and return it to any IKEA store for a full refund. Customers who are not able to return the charger to a store should contact IKEA for instructions on how to dispose of the charger for a full refund.
