Oreo announces newest limited-edition cookie flavor, and it’s anything but sweet

Oreo is debuting its newest flavor, and you can now pre-order the limited-edition cookie.

It’s anything but sweet. In fact, it is quite the opposite.

The new Oreo Sour Patch Kids cookies are now available for pre-order at Oreo.com. The new flavor will hit stores May 6 ($4.50 online; $5.29 in stores).

The cookies look like Oreo Golden Cookies, but both the cookie and creme filling have Sour Patch Kids flavors and colors “creating a sweet yet sour taste, inspired by Sour Patch Kids,” according to a press release.

“The Oreo brand is always looking for playful ways to excite our fans,” Caroline Suppiger, Oreo senior associate brand manager, said in a statement. “What better and more unexpected way to do that than letting Sour Patch Kids playfully takeover our cookie?”

Earlier this year, Oreo unveiled Oreo Space Dunk cookies with blue and pink “cosmic creme” filling with popping candy mixed in.
