Opelika High School teacher, coach charged with soliciting sex from student
An Alabama teacher and coach was arrested Thursday amid allegations of inappropriate behavior with a student.
Montre Learius Battle, 37, is charged with school employee soliciting a sex act with a student under the age of 19. That charge is a Class A misdemeanor.
Opelika City Schools Administration on Feb. 8 contacted Opelika police regarding an incident that took place between a student and faculty member. The nature of the incident has not yet been disclosed.
Battle, a teacher and a football coach, was taken into custody Thursday. As of 3 p.m., he was still undergoing booking at the Lee County Jail.
Police said the investigation is ongoing.
