Hurts made his debut in the “The Top 100 Players” poll in its 13th annual edition.

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill also made the top 10 this year, coming in seventh.

A former West Alabama standout, Hill has appeared in the “Top 100″ after every season of his NFL career. He ranked 36th in 2017, 40th in 2018, 19th in 2019, 22nd in 2020, 15th in 2021 and 15th in 2022 as a Chiefs wide receiver.

After Mahomes, Jefferson and Hurts, San Francisco defensive end Nick Bosa ranked No. 4, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce No. 5 and Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow at No. 6. After Hill came Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen at No. 8, Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons at No. 9 and Chiefs defensive end Chris Jones.

The previous announcements of the 2023 poll results included Las Vegas Raiders running back Josh Jacobs (Alabama) at No. 12, Pittsburgh Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick (Alabama) at No. 18, Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry (Alabama) at No. 25, New York Jets defensive tackle Quinnen Williams (Wenonah, Alabama) at No. 40, Miami Dolphins wide receiver Jaylen Waddle (Alabama) at No. 44, Jets linebacker C.J. In the previous 12 polls, four players from Alabama high schools and colleges had appeared in the top 10:

· Henry (Alabama) placed 10th in 2020 and fourth in 2021 as a Titans running back.

· Julio Jones (Foley, Alabama) placed eighth in 2016, third in 2017, fourth in 2018 and ninth in 2019 as an Atlanta Falcons wide receiver.

· Cam Newton (Auburn) placed first in 2016 as the Carolina Panthers quarterback.

· DeMarcus Ware (Auburn High, Troy) placed sixth in 2012 as a Dallas Cowboys outside linebacker.

Newton’s 2016 ranking is the only one for a player with Alabama football roots better than Hurts’ this year.
