Only 1 change to No. 1 teams in ASWA softball rankings

There was only one change to No. 1 teams in this week’s ASWA high school softball rankings.

Class 4A Curry moved to the top spot while previous No. 1 Orange beach fell to No. 2.

The remainder of the top-ranked teams stayed the same with Class 7A Thompson, Class 6A Wetumpka, Class 5A Springville, Class 3A Plainview, Class 2A Wicksburg, Class 1A Skyline and AISA Macon East stayed atop the rankings.

Class 6A top-ranked Wetumpka is the only state team to earn a spot in the MaxPreps national Top 25. Wetumpka is ranked No. 17, down from No. 6 in the previous rankings after an 8-inning loss to Calera.

Wetumpka (32-1) downed Curry (25-6) 7-4 on Wednesday for the Gulf Shores Gulf Coast Classic II tournament title after both won five straight games to reach the championship.
