Oneonta teen killed in Cullman County crash early Sunday

A 19-year-old Oneonta man was killed in a single-vehicle crash near Arab early Sunday morning, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports.

Cristian Alvarado-Hernandez was killed when the 2004 Ford pickup he was a passenger in left the roadway, struck a ditch and overturned on U.S. 231 near the 284 mile marker, approximately two miles south of Arab in Cullman County, according to a statement from state troopers. The crash happened about 3:45 a.m. Sunday.

Alvarado-Hernandez was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash and was ejected from the pickup truck and pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Ford pickup was Jose L. Herandez-Rodriguz, 20, of Guntersville.

No other information is available as troopers with ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
