One seriously wounded in shooting on Tuscaloosa activity center basketball court

One person was seriously injured following a shooting late Tuesday afternoon at an activity center in Tuscaloosa, authorities said.

Tuscaloosa County deputies, Tuscaloosa police and the Tuscaloosa County Violent Crimes Unit responded to the shooting around 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Bobby Miller Activity Center, run by the Tuscaloosa County Park & Recreation Authority.

The victim, only identified as a male, was in a group involved in a fight on the activity center’s basketball court when the shooting unfolded inside the building near an exit door, said Capt. Jack Kennedy of the Violent Crimes Unit.

The victim was taken by private vehicle to DCH Hospital in serious condition, said Kennedy.

The incident remained under investigation Tuesday evening.
