One from Alabama named FWAA Freshman All-American

Alabama had one representative on the FWAA All-Freshman team announced Thursday.

Cornerback Terrion Arnold, a redshirt freshman, made the team of 32 players selected by the Football Writers Association of America. Former Crimson Tide commit Drake Maye, a quarterback at North Carolina, was selected as the freshman of the year.

Arnold started seven of the 11 games in which he played in the 2022 season. He had one interception and broke up eight passes — most notably the would-be game-winning pass on the final play that secured the win over Texas A&M.

Recent Alabama players to make the FWAA all-freshman team include LB Dallas Turner (2021), LB Will Anderson and Malachi Moore (2020), LB Shane Lee and OL Evan Neal (2019). Anderson was the national freshman of the year in 2020.
