Ohio murder suspect nabbed by U.S. Marshals, ALEA after 2-hour standoff in east Jefferson County

A 21-year-old man wanted out of Ohio was taken into custody after a standoff in eastern Jefferson County.

The U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency arrested Mar’Shawn Johnson Monday afternoon.

Johnson was wanted on an outstanding aggravated murder warrant issued out of Cleveland. Details of the incident weren’t immediately available, but authorities said it happened in January.

Northern District of Alabama U.S. Marshal Marty Keely said authorities learned Johnson was at Panorama East Apartments in the Center Point area. Teams of lawmen descended on the complex.

Johnson holed up inside a unit and a two-hour standoff ensued before the fugitive was arrested.

He was booked into the Jefferson County Jail at 6:14 p.m. and remains held pending extradition to Ohio.
