Four people were injured, including a Montgomery police officer and a 2-year-old child, when a suspect led Montgomery and state police on a chase through the city Wednesday after refusing to stop for a tag violation, authorities said.

A state trooper tried to stop a gray Dodge Charger on Narrow Lane Road near Audubon Road around 2:05 p.m. Wednesday as part of a joint operation with Montgomery police, said Sgt. Jeremy Burkett of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

The driver, later identified as 35-year-old Montgomery resident Richard Moore, refused to stop for the trooper, prompting a pursuit, said Burkett.

As the pursuit continued to East Third Street, the Charger struck a Montgomery police vehicle driven by Police Officer D’Anthony Green, who was responding to help the trooper, according to Burkett.

Green was immediately taken into custody while Green was taken to Jackson Hospital for treatment.

Two women who were passengers in the Charger were taken to Baptist Medical South, while a 2-year-old child who was also in the vehicle was taken to a local hospital.

Moore is facing several charges, including felony attempting to elude, first-degree assault and reckless endangerment.

The investigation was ongoing as of Wednesday evening.
