Oak Mountain continues to dominate AHSAA coaches soccer poll

The Oak Mountain boys continued their reign atop both the AHSAA soccer coaches “Super Poll” and Class 7A Top 10 rankings for Week 8 after taking a week off. The Eagles will face another No. 1 team on Tuesday when Class 4A Westminster-Oak Mountain visits for a 7 p.m. showdown.

Oak Mountain has been top-ranked in the Super Poll – the top 10 teams in the state regardless of classification – and the 7A poll since the preseason. So far, the Eagles have definitely been an easy choice. Coach David DiPiazza’s squad is 18-0 on the year and set an AHSAA record with its 46th match without a loss after beating Vestavia Hills on March 14. The Eagles’ streak is now at 48.

As is customary, Guntersville and Indian Springs swapped spots atop the Class 5A boys poll this week. Guntersville moved up with its 15-3-1 record and previous No. 1 Indians Springs dropped to second at 11-2-2.

The only other change at the top was in the girls Class 4A poll as American Christian jumped from third to No. 1 with a 10-0 record. Previous No. 1 Orange Beach dropped to second and last week’s No. 2 – Montgomery Catholic – fell to No. 3.
