Hazel Green’s Kristin Johnson missed her initial free-throw attempt of the final period but was perfect on the next seven attempts as the second-ranked Trojans pulled away for 25-15 victory over No. 4 Hartselle in Tuesday’s Class 6A Northwest Regional final at Wallace State’s Traditions Bank Arena.

“We knew it was going to be a grind-it-out game, we knew it was going to be a slowed-down, possession-by-possession game, we knew that going in,” Hazel Green coach Tim Miller said. “When you’re in the playoffs, you just want to win and advance. It was an ugly game as far as both sides, and you might hear some complaints about having a shot clock.”
