NotHotDogs and NotSausages: Oscar Mayer is going plant-based
Oscar Mayer is going plant-based.
For the first time, the Kraft Heinz-owned brand will offer two plant-based version of its hot dogs and sausage, reports CNN.
The products, called Oscar Mayer “NotHotDogs” and “NotSausage” roll out nationwide later this year. The new vegan versions will offer a “smoky, savory taste and thick, juice bite” and mirror the brand’s meat products.
In a press release, Oscar Mayer noted that while the plant-based market is projected to skyrocket from $8.3 billion in 2023 to $19 billion by 2030, offerings of hot dogs and dinner sausage links remain “underdeveloped and under-consumed within the broader plant-based meat category” due to consumer disappointment with taste and texture.
“With Oscar Mayer NotHotDogs and NotSausages – available in Bratwurst and Italian sausage flavors – The Kraft Heinz Not Company aims to deliver on these needs and consumers’ evolving preference in the plant-based space,” the company said in the press release.
The launch of NotHotDogs and NotSausages is a continuation of its Oscar Mayer’s partnership to expand Kraft’s plant-based portfolio in response to the growing hunger among American consumers for “better-for-you” products, reports CNN. In the past year, the company rolled out a vegan boxed Mac & Cheese, mayonnaise and vegan cheese slices.
