A Northport man was killed in single vehicle crash late Tuesday in Winston County.

Alabama State Troopers identified the fatality victim as Paul T. Gonnering. He was 50.

Trooper Cpl. Reginal King said Gonnering was driving a Volkswagen Passat that left the road and struck an embankment. He was not using a seat belt and was pronounced dead on the scene.

The wreck happened at 11:49 p.m. on Alabama 13, about five miles north of Lynn.

The investigation is ongoing.
