North Carolina woman killed in motorcycle crash during race at Barber Motorsports Park
A North Carolina woman has died more than a week after she was injured in a motorcycle crash in an on-track wreck at Barber Motorsport Park.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the fatality victim as Silke Maria Crombie. She was 56 and lived in Mars Hill.
The wreck happened at 2:51 p.m. during a side-car race on Saturday, Oct. 7.
Crombie was taken to UAB Hospital where she was pronounced dead at 1:47 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 15.
Details about the wreck have not been released.
Crombie is one of two people who died following separate crashes that weekend at Barber Motorsports Park.
The day after Crombie’s wreck, a 74-year-old man from California was killed also in an on-track wreck.
The park was hosting the 2023 Barber Vintage Festival over that weekend.
