A Lawrence County woman was arrested Friday morning after authorities found her son dead.

Shannon Renee Karr was booked into the county jail at 4:16 a.m. on capital murder charges, according to jail records. She is being held without bond.

According to WAFF, Moulton police said a 911 call was received from a home on Main Street at about 3 a.m.

Officers found a woman outside the home who told them about a dead child inside the home. The woman was identified as the mother of the boy.

Lawrence County Coroner Scott Norwood said a seven-year-old was found dead at the scene with two gunshot wounds.
