The number of gainers narrowly nipped decliners Thursday to lift our Huntsville and Alabama Stock Report, with a couple of north Alabama stocks leading the way.

Carpenter Technology, along with Spire, paced the table at +2.1%. Adtran also had a respectable day, rising 1.7%.

The biggest percentage figures were at the bottom of the table, however. Synovus lost a whopping 7.4%. Community Health Systems shed 4.5%.
