North Alabama signs 17-player class, including 5 transfers
North Alabama signed a 17-player recruiting class on the first day of the 2024 early signing period Wednesday, a group that includes five transfers.
The five transfers include a pair of FBS veterans, former Florida Atlantic defensive back Jahbari Hill and former Middle Tennessee kicker Scott Payne. The Lions also signed former Tennessee Tech running back Juice Allen, Copiah-Lincoln (Miss.) Community College defensive back Christopher Burnett and Northeast Mississippi CC defensive back Jermaine Ray.
UNA signed a number of players from Coastal Alabama, the territory of head coach Brent Dearmon. Among that group are Saraland wide receiver Myron Dunklin, Gulf Shores defensive lineman Kingston Lowe and Baker running back Roderick Taylor. From the Shoals area, the Lions signed Florence High School defensive back Leo Glover, Brooks defensive lineman Jackson Ward and West Morgan running back Jalen Fletcher.
UNA went 3-8 in 2023 in Dearmon’s debut season as a member of the FCS United Athletic Conference, which combines the football-playing members of the WAC and ASUN. The Lions compete in the ASUN in most other sports.
