North Alabama man recorded children on hidden cameras in his home, authorities say
A Marshall County man is facing charges of voyeurism and possession of child pornography after investigators say he installed hidden cameras in his home to record children.
The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office arrested Kenneth Hand, 57, on Friday. He has been charged with 11 counts of child pornography possession and two counts of first degree voyeurism. He is being held on a $100,000 property bond, plus $10,000 cash.
Hand’s arrest came as a result of an investigation that began in October, according to the sheriff’s office.
While working another case, an investigator received information through an interview that Hand’s Turnpike Road residence in Albertville had hidden cameras in a room where a child slept, as well as a bathroom.
A search of the property last October recovered “numerous digital storage devices.” Last week, investigators learned of child pornography on an external hard drive that was seized from the residence; along with videos recorded from a device in the bathroom.
According to the sheriff’s office, the hard drive contained at least 11 images depicting nude children under the age of 10, which had been downloaded from the Internet. There were also videos of a young child in undergarments in a bedroom of his home.
Investigators are still processing a “large amount of digital data seized from the residence,” according to the sheriff’s office.
The Marshall County Department of Human Resources, District Attorney’s Office and the Child Advocacy Center have all assisted in the investigation.
