North Alabama man killed in hit-and-run, police seek driver
Athens police said a man was killed Thursday night in an apparent hit-and-run crash.
According to police, the incident happened at 6:30 p.m., at the intersection of US 72 and Hine Street.
Witnesses said a westbound vehicle struck a man crossing the road. The man, whose name was not released, suffered from life-threatening injuries and was transported by ambulance to the hospital. He did not survive.
The vehicle, which apparently continued westbound on U.S. 72, was described as a tan/beige Honda CRV.
Police believe it will have damage to the front and driver’s side rearview mirror area.
