North Alabama man killed in Etowah County wreck that hurt 3 others

A north Alabama man was killed late Thursday morning in a two-vehicle wreck that injured tree other people in Etowah County, authorities said.

Andy D. McSpadden, 50, of Fort Payne, was pronounced dead at the scene of the 11:15 a.m. Thursday crash on U.S. 11 near Walker Lane, about four miles north of Reece City, said Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Senior Trooper Brandon Bailey.

McSpadden was driving a 2009 Nissan Rogue that struck a 2020 Mercedes GLC300, said Bailey.

The driver of the Mercedes was injured and taken to UAB. A passenger in the Rogue was taken to Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee while a passenger in the Mercedes was also taken to UAB.

Further information was unavailable as state troopers continued to investigate the wreck.
