North Alabama man killed in 2-vehicle crash
An Athens man has died from injuries he received in a crash that happened in Limestone County on Jan. 24.
Senior Trooper Brandon Bailey of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) said the incident happened at about 9:56 a.m. Wednesday on Alabama 251 near Mooresville Road, about three miles north of Athens.
Sammy H. Keyes, 73, was critically injured when the 2019 Ford Edge he was driving was struck by a 2003 Ford F-250, driven by Joshua James Moore, 36, of Athens.
After the initial impact, the Edge left the roadway and struck a fence. Keyes was injured and transported to Huntsville Hospital for treatment, where he died Monday.
Troopers with ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
