North Alabama man hid 176 fentanyl pills in Easter eggs, sheriff says
A Russellville man was arrested Monday morning after authorities allegedly discovered 176 fentanyl pills lodged in two Easter eggs in his car.
The Colbert County Sheriff’s Office said Jamarious Dequan Qualls, 29, was arrested on charges of drug trafficking and drug possession with intent to distribute.
The arrest came after a traffic stop Monday at about 11:45 a.m. on South Hook Street in Tuscumbia, according to the sheriff’s office.
After consenting to a search, officers found 176 pills inside two Easter eggs, as well as a plastic bag with one ounce of “spice,” or synthetic cannabis.
Qualls also had misdemeanor warrants for his arrest in the city of Sheffield.
He is being held in Colbert County Jail on a $150,000 bond.
