North Alabama man arrested for sexual contact with 13-year-old
Decatur police have arrested a man who they say subjected a 13-year-old to sexual contact.
Starsky Vashan King, 47, turned himself in to his parole officer in Lawrence County on Wednesday. He is being held in the Morgan County Jail on $150,000 bond.
According to police, King is accused of second degree sexual abuse, adult sex offender-prohibited residence location, and adult sex offender-registration with local law enforcement.
Police say investigators received a report on July 1 of sexual abuse with a juvenile occurring at a residence in the 1700 block of Robinhood Way S.W.
According to police, King is a registered sex offender who registered an address in Courtland with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, claiming it as his residence.
In a statement, Decatur police stated its SORNA Unit was familiar with King and his sex offender status due to him and his wife previously inquiring if he could live at the residence on Robinhood Way. They were both told it was not a compliant address, due to being located within 2,000 feet of multiple childcare facilities.
Police say King failed to update his registration information to local law enforcement as he is required to do, per state law.
