North Alabama jury finds man guilty in 2021 Taco Bell slaying

A Marshall County jury Wednesday convicted a Georgia man of capital murder in a 2021 double killing outside a Guntersville restaurant.

Kenov Yenovi Williams, 26, was found guilty in the deaths of Elias Gaspar Lopez, 19, and Enrique F. Rodrigues Alvarado, 17. The two were shot to death on September 23, 2021 outside a Taco Bell.

At the end of the five-day trial, Williams was found guilty of murder or two or more people, two counts of murder during a first degree robbery, murder using a deadly weapon on a victim inside a vehicle, as well as criminal conspiracy to commit first degree robbery.

Judge Christopher Abel sentenced him to life without parole on the murder counts and 20 years for the conspiracy charge.

Over the course of a five-day trial, prosecutors presented a case using Snapchat data and witness accounts that Williams, while acting as a drug dealer, intended to rob and murder the two victims as an act of retaliation.

“Williams’s heinous acts at Taco Bell on that night in September 2021 changed the course of many lives,” Marshall County District Attorney Jennifer Bray said.

“My heart goes out to the Lopez and Alvarado families whose children were taken from them far too young. I know this trial was difficult for them, but I’m hopeful that the jury’s decision to convict Williams and the fact that he will spend the rest his life behind bars gives them some sense of justice… We thank Judge Abel for ensuring that Williams will never live outside of a prison cell.”
