North Alabama firefighter placed on administrative leave following arrest

An unidentified Muscle Shoals firefighter has been placed on administrative leave following their arrest, according to a recent release.

“We take matters of public safety and employee conduct very seriously and are committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism and accountability within all city departments,” the City of Muscle Shoals wrote in a post to Facebook Wednesday.

The city has restricted comments on the post.

“Currently, this is an ongoing legal matter, and we are cooperating with law enforcement as they conduct their investigation.”

The city has not released any details on who the firefighter is or what they were arrested for as of April 24.

“We recognize the impact such incidents may have on our community and value the trust placed in our public safety personnel,” the post reads.

“At the same time, we respect the due process owed to all of our citizens in serious matters such as these. In accordance with city policies and procedures, the firefighter involved has been placed on administrative leave pending further review.”

“The City of Muscle Shoals remains dedicated to transparency as well as the security and welfare of its residents,” the post continued.

“We appreciate the community’s patience and understanding as we navigate this evolving situation. Further updates will be provided as appropriate.”
