North Alabama congressman rules out U.S. Senate bid

U.S. Rep. Dale Strong, R-Monrovia, announced Wednesday he will not seek to replace Tommy Tuberville in the U.S. Senate.

“After prayerful thought and consideration, I have decided that the best way I can serve Alabama is to remain in the United States House of Representatives,” Strong said. “For that reason, I will be seeking re-election to Congress in 2026 and no other office. Representing north Alabama in Washington has been the most rewarding experience in my career of public service. I truly believe I am where the Lord wants me, and I want to continue to represent my community.”

Strong will be seeking a third term as the 5th Congressional District representative after replacing former Rep. Mo Brooks, who stepped down to run for the Senate seat vacated by the retirement of longtime U.S. Richard Shelby in 2022 in a race won by current U.S. Sen. Katie Britt.

Strong, like Tuberville, has been a strong supporter of Pres. Donald Trump since stepping down as Madison County Commission chairman to run for Congress.

Tuberville is vacating his seat in the Senate to run for governor.
