Nolan Turner staying with Tampa Bay Buccaneers
A day after their season ended on Monday night, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers began assembling their roster for 2023 by signing 13 players from their practice roster to reserve/future contracts.
The players staying with the Buccaneers included safety Nolan Turner, a former Vestavia Hills High School standout.

Turner stuck with Tampa Bay as an undrafted rookie from Clemson in 2022. He started the season on the practice squad, joined the active roster on Oct. 27, got waived on Dec. 5 and was re-signed for the practice squad on Dec. 7.
Turner played in five games for the Buccaneers. He got on the field for one defensive snap and 74 special-teams plays.
Tampa Bay lost to the Dallas Cowboys 31-14 on Monday night in a Super Wild-Card Weekend game in the NFC playoffs.
A player signed to a reserve/future contract can be added to an NFL team’s roster when it expands from 53 to 90 players for the offseason on the first day of the NFL’s 2023 business year on March 15. The newly signed players become eligible to participate in offseason workouts, minicamps and OTAs as team members.
Only players who aren’t on NFL active rosters can sign reserve/future contracts.
Turner is the 10th player from an Alabama high school or college who has signed a reserve/future contract since the end of the 2022 regular season. The other players include:
· Guard Deonte Brown (Austin, Alabama) signed with the Carolina Panthers.
