Noise complaints cancel popular Baldwin County wedding venue

The Baldwin County Planning and Zoning Commission revoked a conditional use permit for Bella Sera Gardens, a wedding venue in the Loxley area that had drawn the ire of its neighbors.

In April, the commission first scrutinized the wedding venue’s permit, after residents in the area complained about the noise from events held at the venue. A decision on whether to modify or revoke the permit entirely was delayed multiple times until Thursday’s monthly meeting of the planning commission.

After an initial vote to modify the permit did not pass, the commission debated for a while before ultimately revoking the venue’s conditional use permit by a vote of 8-2.

The venue owner, Robin Gregorius, will have 30 days to submit a list of events the venue is already obligated to host to the Baldwin County Planning and Zoning Department. Outside of those events grandfathered in, the venue will not be able to host any additional events until after the owner obtains another conditional use permit. The commission said that the venue had events booked until 2025.

Gregorius declined an interview after the result but said that she was “devastated.”
