No dogs, and other ‘Spring Break 101′ tips from the Flora-Bama

For those considering their first visit to one of the Gulf Coast’s most famous roadhouses, the Flora-Bama has issued some “Spring Break 101″ tips.

You’ll find no guidance as to how many bushwackers is too many. But the tip sheet posted on the venue’s Facebook page does lay out some key points about admission policies.

Some highlights:

The Flora-Bama is an all-ages venue until 6 p.m. Starting at 6 p.m. daily, admission is open only to patrons 18 and up. Patrons ages 18-20 can’t enter after 10 p.m., but if they’re already inside, they can stay. A cover charge applies Thursday-Sunday starting at 6 p.m.; $5 for 21 and up, $15 for ages 18-21.

The Flora-Bama does not accept digital or paper IDs. You’ll need something tangible, official and non-expired, such as a driver license or passport.

No dogs. “The Flora-Bama is a place where we encourage people of all walks of life to gather together, enjoy live music, food, drinks and create lasting memories with friends while making some new friendships along the way. This has historically included our furry friends as well, as the Flora-Bama loves animals and knows that many of our awesome patrons are pet owners (as are our owners!). Upon considering a tremendous amount of factors over a lengthy and difficult process, we have unfortunately decided to no longer allow dogs at the Flora-Bama, Flora-Bama Yacht Club, and Flora-Bama Ole River Grill moving forward. We have come to this decision with the ultimate intent of providing the safest, cleanest, and most positive atmosphere for our patrons to enjoy while on property … Please be patient with us during this transition, as this was a very tough, but necessary choice.”

You can use the Flora-Bama’s boardwalk to establish the beach behind the venue, and you can carry your “beach bag essentials” through. But you can’t tote your own alcohol or a cooler through the venue.

Shoes must be work inside the building, and after 6 p.m., clothing must be worn over swimsuits.
