No. 3 ranked boys basketball team forfeits sub-regional game
The Williamson High School boys basketball team has been removed from the Class 5A boys sub-regional tournament, the AHSAA reported on its website Thursday afternoon.
According to a post, Williamson self-reported playing an ineligible student-athlete in violation of the transfer rule. All games in which the ineligible player participate in must be forfeited.
The No. 3-ranked Lions (24-6) defeated B.C. Rain 78-23 on Wednesday night in the 5A, Area 1 championship game and were scheduled to host Headland in the sub-regional round on Saturday.
According to the AHSAA, Headland will now advance to the Class 5A South Regional tournament next week.
