No. 10 Corner rolls past Fultondale to stay unbeaten
First-year coach Trent Campbell’s Corner squad broke into the Alabama Sports Writers Association Class 4A football poll this week and celebrated the recognition with a 42-21 rout of Fultondale at home on Friday.
Senior quarterback Brendan Conner threw for a pair of touchdowns and ran for another for the Yellow Jackets, who improved to 5-0 on the season. Conner had 109 total yards on the night.
Sophomore Tyson Hill caught five passes for 79 yards with two TDs in the win. Spencer Unruh scored a TD, rushing for 85 yards on 17 carries. Calvin Taylor ran five times for 64 yards and a score.
Deacon Dyer also had a TD run for the Yellow Jackets. He ran the ball five times for 30 yards.
Jace Boyd picked off two Fultondale passes in the win.
The Wildcats dropped to 1-4 on the season.
Corner returns to Region 5 play on Friday at 2-3 Northside. Fultondale meets 4A, Region 6 foe Ashville at home on Friday.
