College Football Week 5 Georgia vs. Auburn odds preview

The Bulldogs have been dominant through four weeks, with the only hiccup coming in a 24-14 victory over South Carolina. Kirby Smart’s squad once again appears to be the most balanced team in the SEC, allowing an SEC-leading 11 points per game while scoring 41 points weekly.

Carson Beck is successfully transitioning into his role as QB1, with help from the Bulldogs’ outstanding pass catchers. Brock Bowers is having another stellar year and is one of seven Georgia players with 100+ receiving yards.

Auburn looks to bounce back from its first defeat in the Hugh Freeze era. The Tigers are in the midst of an extremely difficult portion of its schedule.

Auburn lost to Texas A&M 27-10 last week, faces No. 1 Georgia this week, then squares off against No. 13 LSU, No. 20 Ole Miss, and Mississippi State. The schedule-makers had no love for the Tigers this season.

Georgia vs. Auburn best game props and odds: Georgia -14.5 (-105 or better)

This spread is a head-scratcher, considering the Tigers suffered a 17-point loss to Texas A&M. Now, Auburn hosts Georgia and is only a 14.5-point underdog vs. a Georgia squad that is far superior to the Aggies.

Quarterbacking is a gigantic question mark in the Plains. Michigan State transfer Payton Thorne has underperformed, throwing for less than 100 yards in two of Auburn’s four games.

The Tigers rank last in the SEC in passing yards per game but are second in rushing yards. Auburn will pound the rock vs. a Georgia defense that allows 87 rushing yards per game, making this the key matchup of the game.

If the Bulldogs force Auburn to move the ball through the air, Georgia will undoubtedly come out on top.

Georgia vs. Auburn best player props and odds: Brock Bowers to record a receiving touchdown (+100 or better)

Bowers has been a household name in college football since emerging as a freshman in 2021. He had 13 receiving touchdowns that season and seven in 2022.

The California native is fresh off his best game of the season, with nine catches for 121 yards and two scores vs. UAB. The Bulldogs are using Bowers far less as a rusher this season, creating more opportunities for touchdown passes.

Expect Bowers to put on a show Saturday at Jordan-Hare Stadium.
