Nick Saban’s $17.5 million Florida mansion among 2023′s most expensive sports stars real estate deals

As retirement homes go, not too shabby.

Former Alabama Coach Nick Saban’s purchase last year of a Florida mansion landed on a list of the top 10 largest property moves made by sports figures in 2023.

Luxury real estate brokerage RubyHome Northwest compiled the list, which included sports figures buying a new home, putting a residence on the market, or selling for a profit.

Saban’s Sunshine State retreat made the list at No. 5. At the top was Chicago Bulls shooting guard and two-time NBA All-Star Zach LaVine’s eye-popping $34 million estate in southern California’s Newport Beach.

The Tuscan-style mansion measures 11,200 square feet and offers six bedrooms and seven bathrooms.

Saban’s transaction last spring was for a $17.5 million, 6,200-square foot house, which was initially priced at $21.5 million.

Built in 1992, the house was renovated in 2016 and includes six bedrooms, marble floors, a floating staircase, and floor-to-ceiling glass walls. It comes with a 40,000-pound boat lift.

The 1.68-acre estate is among many on Jupiter Island, which is also home to Tiger Woods, Gary Player, Greg Norman and singer Celine Dion.

Other sports figures who made the list were Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Terry Bradshaw, Houston Astros pitcher Justin Verlander and former Atlanta Braves great Chipper Jones.
