Nick Saban didn’t want to go. In fact, he tried to get out of it. However, the Alabama coach called his trip to Italy with Miss Terry “fabulous.”

“We had our share of fun times, family times this summer,” Saban said Tuesday.

The trip, he said, was a gift to wife, Miss Terry, for their 50th wedding anniversary from friends, which he “successfully got out of for two years.”

“I failed to get out of it this year,” Saban explained. “Didn’t really want to go, but it was a fabulous time. Fabulous. I would recommend anyone do it. Lots of great culture. Great architecture, art. A lot of good things to see.”

More than anything, Saban, who addressed the media at SEC media days Tuesday in Nashville, said the branding of his football program was in display with the number of people shouting “Roll Tide” in his direction.

“I thought nobody would know us anywhere that we went, and we got ‘Roll Tided’ everywhere we went,” Saban said. “Even in the Ferrari plant, we had a tour of the Ferrari plant, and these cats don’t even speak English, and we’re getting ‘Roll Tide.’

“So, I guess we have a pretty good brand.”
