Nick Saban reveals mom may miss Texas game, knows what play she wants called
Nick Saban, in an appearance on “SEC Nation,” revealed his mother may not attend Saturday’s Alabama-Texas game. The game will be live streamed on fuboTV (free trial), DirecTV Stream (free trial) and SlingTV (half off first month).
“Well, God bless her, she’s had a tough week. I don’t know if she’s gonna be able to come to the game today,” the Alabama coach said.
She came up in conversation after Saban was asked what play he thinks his mom would want called.
“She will definitely think that we should pressure the quarterback,” he said. “That’s always No. 1. ‘Why aren’t we blitzing more?’ And No. 2, on offense, mostly it’s, ‘Who called that play?’ Especially if the play didn’t work.”
Mary Saban, now 91, made headlines earlier this week when Nick Saban recalled when his mother interrupted a 2013 spring practice to call the Alabama coach and brag she made a hole-in-one on the golf course, something he had yet to accomplish.
As it turns out, Nick Saban has now made two holes-in-one, one of which he kept a secret for years.
