Nick Saban on LSU’s Jayden Daniels: ‘The guy is killing us with the scrambles’

Nick Saban vented at half of Alabama’s 21-21 game with LSU on Saturday night.

LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels was a one-man wrecking crew. Daniels rushed for 137 yards on eight carries in the first half and a touchdown. He has thrown for two more scores. He has compiled more than 300 yards of total offense alone.

“It’s the whole thing, man,” Saban told the Crimson Tide Sports Network, per 247 Sports. “The guy is killing us with the scrambles. We’re not keeping him in the pocket. We’re playing a lot of match coverage, so there’s nobody to break on the ball when he does scramble. We got spies on him. The spies can’t get him on the ground. That’s the whole key to the drill.

“The big play on that thing was his run, 50 yard run. Anyway, that’s what we got to do and we got to keep doing a good job on offense and keep scoring points.”

Down 21-14, Daniels led the Tigers 75 yards in just 56 seconds to a touchdown. The quarterback needed just five plays, one of which was a 40-yard run to the Alabama 34.
