Nick Saban on Alabama QB he calls a ‘true example of development’

Nick Saban he is rooting for Ty Simpson.

The former Alabama coach was asked Tuesday during the annual golf tournament for his Nick’s Kids Foundation about the Crimson Tide quarterback.

“Ty was an outstanding high school player, no doubt,” the ESPN college football analyst, who recruiting and coach Simson, said. “He’s a fine young man. I think his example is a true example of development. He matured and developed for two years, and now he’s getting an opportunity, and his experiences will help him be successful.

“We’re rooting for him, and we have all the confidence that he’ll do a great job.”

Simpson is entering his fourth year in Tuscaloosa, playing behind Bryce Young and Jalen Milroe.

Just last week, former Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron said Simpson has what it takes to start this upcoming season.

“I think it’s Ty’s job to lose,” McCarron said. “He’s been there, he’s put in the work. Players respect him, and he’s talented and he’s a great kid.”
