Nick Saban has ‘College GameDay’ guys in stitches recalling Tua Tagovailoa’s 2nd-and-26 play
Nick Saban was certainly in his element Monday night.
No, he wasn’t stalking the sidelines in search for Alabama’s next national championship.
Instead, he was relaxed. He even smiled a few times.
And he had the “College GameDay” crew, including Desmond Howard and Pat McAfee, eating up everything he was saying.
Saban joined the panel of the popular pregame show, which was broadcasting at the site of the College Football Playoff national championship prior to the kick of No. 1 Georgi and No. 3 TCU.
The conversation, of course, was about Saban’s experience in national championship games. And why not? Saban, who has won seven national titles, is certainly someone who can contribute to such a topic.
He had the guys in stitches, recalling – yet again – Tua Tagovailoa’s historic and memorable second-and-26 play, which beat Georgia for the national championship.
In January of 2018, Tagovailoa – a freshman, who had played mostly mop-up duty that season – came off the bench to spark a comeback and threw a 41-yard touchdown to DeVonta Smith that gave No. 4 Alabama a 26-23 overtime victory against No. 3 Georgia.
Tagovailoa took a sack by Jonathan Ledbetter and Davin Bellamy for a loss of 16 yards on first down in overtime before the heroic game-ending play on second-and-26.
Listen to Saban explain it below.
