NFL Scouting Combine: Which running back ran fastest on Saturday?

Three running backs ran the 40-yard dash faster than 4.4 seconds at the NFL Scouting Combine on Saturday.

Virginia Tech’s Bhayshul Tuten had the fastest 40 for the position group with a 4.32-second showing at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

Texas’ Jaydon Blue ran the 40 in 4.38 seconds, and SMU’s Brashard Smith came home in 4.39.

Two players with Alabama football roots ran the 40 with the running-back group. Auburn’s Jarquez Hunter recorded a 4.44-second showing, and Ohio State’s Quinshon Judkins, a former Pike Road High School standout, ran a 4.48.

Four other running backs who came from SEC members ran the 40 on Saturday:

  • Ole Miss’ Ulysses Bentley IV: 4.62 seconds
  • Georgia’s Trevor Etienne: 4.42 seconds
  • Florida’s Montrell Johnson Jr.: 4.41 seconds
  • South Carolina’s Raheim Sanders: 4.46 seconds

In the other measured drills on Saturday, the leaders among the running backs included:

Vertical jump: Virginia Tech’s Tuten also won the vertical jump by getting 40.5 inches off the ground. Kansas State’s DJ Giddens and Arizona State’s Cam Skattebo were the runners-up at 39.5 inches.

Broad jump: Ohio State’s Judkins covered the most ground among the running backs at 11 feet (132 inches). Three players went 10 feet, 10 inches – Kansas State’s Giddens, Virginia Tech’s Tuten and North Carolina’s Omarion Hampton.
