NFL Scouting Combine: Which edge rusher ran fastest on Thursday?

Tennessee’s James Pearce Jr. covered the 40-yard dash in 4.47 seconds to record the fastest time among the players designated as edge rushers in the marquee drill at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine.

Thirty-four players are carrying that designation at the combine, and Pearce was the only one who ran on Thursday who came in faster than 4.5 seconds in the 40.

Syracuse’s Fadil Diggs had the second-fastest time in the group at 4.57 seconds. Texas A&M’s Shemar Stewart was third-fastest in the 40 at 4.59.

One player with Alabama football roots is in the edge group – Alabama’s Que Robinson, who prepped at Jackson-Olin in Birmingham. Like half of the players in this group, Robinson did not run the 40.

Five other SEC edge rushers ran the 40 on Thursday:

  • Oklahoma’s Ethan Downs 4.69 seconds
  • Arkansas’ Landon Jackson: 4.68 seconds
  • South Carolina’s Kyle Kennard: 4.73 seconds
  • Texas’ Barryn Sorrell: 4.68 seconds
  • Ole Miss’ Princely Umanmielen: 4.72 seconds

In the other measurable drills on Thursday, the leaders among the edge rushers included:

Vertical jump: Landon Jackson got 40.5 inches off the group. That put the Arkansas standout one-half inch ahead of Texas A&M’s Shemar Stewart. Ole Miss’ Princely Umanmielen gave the SEC a podium sweep at this station with a 38-inch jump for third.

Broad jump: Stewart cleared 10 feet, 11 inches – 131 inches – for the best distance. The Texas A&M standout finished 2 inches ahead of Jackson, with Umanmielen again third at 126 inches.
