NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year odds update: Where do Ward and Hunter stack up?
The 2025 NFL Draft produced a less-than-sexy quarterbacks class, but the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year race will still be one of the most compelling of this season.
The season is set to open with two bona fide favorites followed by a slew of potential stars capable of unseating that duo. Here’s how the preseason NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year odds stack up as training camps get set to open around the league.
NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year odds at a glance
Player | Shortest odds | Longest odds |
---|---|---|
Ashton Jeanty, RB, Las Vegas Raiders | +250 at DraftKings | +275 at bet365 |
Cam Ward, QB, Tennessee Titans | +275 at bet365 | +350 at BetMGM |
Travis Hunter, WR, Jacksonville Jaguars | +800 at bet365 | +1000 at DraftKings |
Omarion Hampton, RB, Los Angeles Chargers | +900 at BetMGM | +1100 at bet365 |
Tetairoa McMillan, WR, Carolina Panthers | +1000 at FanDuel | +1600 at BetMGM |
Tyler Shough, QB, New Orleans Saints | +1000 at DraftKings | +1400 at FanDuel |
Though Ward and Hunter are the two highest-profile picks — they did go No. 1 and No. 5 in the first round in April — Jeanty is the favorite.
The Heisman Trophy runner-up is in an advantageous position since he has one of the most predictable floors of any rookie as the RB1 for the Raiders.
Obviously, injuries can have an impact at any point, which is why there is the array of odds. Plus, quarterbacks have won the OROY in four of the past six years, including each of the past two years.
Considering that, Ward and Shough are strong possibilities since each is in line to start Week 1 for his respective team.
Best NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year picks
It’s always beneficial to consider multiple players when wagering on futures like the Offensive Rookie of the Year.
Best bet of the OROY favorites
Omarion Hampton, RB, Los Angeles Chargers
Best odds: +1100 at bet365
It has been seven years since a running back won the OROY, and Saquon Barkley, like Jeanty, was the best player on a bad team for the New York Giants when he won it in 2018.
Yet, Hampton is in the best position to succeed, especially as the clear RB1 for an offensive-laden team like Los Angeles.
Despite his prowess developing QBs, coach Jim Harbaugh loves to lean on the run game, since LA was tied for 11th in rushing attempts (463) in 2024 despite a mixed bag of RBs, headlined by Gus Edwards.
Hampton only played three seasons at North Carolina, which despite his leading FBS in attempts two straight years, he has relatively low mileage on him. He should at worst be a finalist for the award.
Best OROY longshot bet
Matthew Golden, WR, Green Bay Packers
Best odds: +3500 at FanDuel
Golden was, along with Hunter and McMillan, one of the top available wideouts who fell to the Packers at pick No. 23. Yet, he finds himself in a position to have a profound impact on one of the most explosive offenses, keyed by quarterback Jordan Love.
Editor’s note: Scott Engel’s Fantasy Football guide for the 2025 season
Golden has a chance to be the top wideout for the Packers. Why? The receiving corp is middle of the pack as it is, and No. 1 option Christian Watson is still recovering from a knee injury sustained in Week 18 against the Chicago Bears.
Receivers have won the OROY twice in the past four years, with Ja’Marr Chase and Garrett Wilson taking the award in 2021 and 2022 respectively.
Chase won the award during the Bengals’ Super Bowl season of 2021, when he posted 1,455 yards while leading their loaded WR group. That sounds like it could be Golden in 2025.
Wild card OROY bet
Travis Hunter, WR, Jacksonville Jaguars
Best odds: +1000 at DraftKings
Can you really wager on Hunter to win both OROY and DROY (+1000 at FanDuel)? Will he be used on offense and defense, and if so how much?
If Hunter is really going to be a 60-minute player, will he run out of gas at the end of the season? He may have been effective playing both ways at all levels — he did, after all, earn the Heisman Trophy in 2024. But can he do so playing 17 games in 18 weeks?
It’s fun to dream about Hunter’s video-game potential. But until we see it, it’s hard to realistically set expectations — especially on a team like the Jaguars, who could finish first in the AFC South or contend for the No. 1 overall pick again.
