NFL Monday night: Seahawks sink Eagles on late TD

Seattle wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba made a fingertip catch in the rain for a 29-yard touchdown with 28 seconds to play to lift the Seahawks to a 20-17 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night.

The TD reception capped a 10-play, 92-yard drive that took 84 seconds of clock time.

Drew Lock directed the touchdown drive. Seattle’s backup QB started for the second straight game with Geno Smith dealing with a groin injury. Lock completed 5-of-10 passes for 92 yards on the Seahawks’ final series, including a 34-yard connection with DK Metcalf on a third-and-10 throw from the Seattle 37-yard line.

Lock finished 22-of-33 passing for 208 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions.

Seattle safety Julian Love intercepted quarterback Jalen Hurts’ first-and-10 throw from the Philadelphia 45 at the Seahawks 17 with six seconds to play to seal with victory.

With 8:08 remaining, Love had intercepted a Hurts’ pass on first-and-10 from the Seattle 45 in the end zone.

Fourteen players from Alabama high schools and colleges got on the field during the Philadelphia-Seattle game:

· Reed Blankenship (West Limestone) started at safety for the Eagles. Blankenship made five tackles on defense and one tackle on special teams.

· James Bradberry (Pleasant Grove, Samford) started at cornerback for the Eagles. Bradberry made five tackles.

· Eagles linebacker Zach Cunningham (Pinson Valley) was designated as a game-day inactive. A knee injury kept Cuningham out of the lineup.

· Landon Dickerson (Alabama) started at left guard for the Eagles.

· Eagles offensive lineman Jack Driscoll (Auburn) did not record any stats.

· Seahawks linebacker Derick Hall (Auburn) made one tackle on special teams.

· Jalen Hurts (Alabama) started at quarterback for the Eagles. Hurts completed 17-of-31 passes for 143 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions and ran for 82 yards and two touchdowns on two carries. Hurts scored on a 3-yard run with 6:31 to play in the first quarter to end the game’s opening drive and went over the goal line on a 1-yard plunge as Philadelphia went in front 17-10 with 4:43 left in the third quarter. Hurts’ status for the game had been designated as questionable because of illness, but he took every snap for the Eagles.

· Mike Jackson (Spain Park) started at cornerback for the Seahawks. Jackson made four tackles, recorded one tackle for loss and broke up two passes in his first start of the season. Jackson started every game last season for Seattle.

· Eagles cornerback Josh Jobe (Alabama) made one tackle on special teams.

· Julio Jones (Foley, Alabama) started at wide receiver for the Eagles. Jones had a 6-yard reception.

· Nicholas Morrow (Huntsville) started at linebacker for the Eagles. Morrow led Philadelphia with eight tackles, including one behind the line of scrimmage.

· Jarran Reed (Alabama) started at nose tackle for the Seahawks. Reed made two tackles.

· Eagles cornerback Eli Ricks (Alabama) made two tackles.

· DeVonta Smith (Alabama) started at wide receiver for the Eagles. Smith had five receptions for 50 yards.

· Eagles offensive lineman Tyler Steen (Alabama) did not record any stats.

· Eagles wide receiver Quez Watkins (Athens) did not record any stats.

Seattle revived its playoff hopes by ending a four-game losing streak to even its record at 7-7 with three weeks remaining in the regular season. Philadelphia suffered its third consecutive defeat to drop to 10-4.

The Seahawks visit the Tennessee Titans at noon CST Sunday. The Eagles host the New York Giants at 3:30 p.m. Dec. 25.
