NFL Monday night: Raiders win Carlson Bowl over Packers
Running back Josh Jacobs produced Las Vegas’ biggest gainer of the game to spark the Raiders to a 17-13 victory over the Green Bay Packers on Monday night.
With Las Vegas trailing by three points after Anders Carlson’s tiebreaking field goal with 5:16 left in the third quarter, Jacobs rambled 24 yards to get the Raiders off their 25-yard line and on the way to the game-deciding touchdown at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

Jacobs carried the football four more times in the 10-play series, including a 1-yard touchdown plunge on the first snap of the fourth quarter as Las Vegas went up 17-13.
The Packers got a final chance to win after Raiders kicker Daniel Carlson hit the right upright on a 52-yard field-goal attempt with 1:56 to play. But cornerback Amik Robertson came up with Las Vegas’ third interception off Green Bay quarterback Jordan Love in the end zone with 44 seconds remaining.
The NFL’s 2022 rushing leader, Jacobs had gained 490 yards on the ground through five games last season. The former Alabama standout doesn’t have half that total five games into 2023, but Monday night was his most productive rushing game with 69 yards and one touchdown on 20 carries and also caught five passes for 20 yards.
The game featured the first matchup of kicking brothers in the NFL since Dec. 20, 1987, when the Los Angeles Raiders’ Chris Bahr and the Cleveland Browns’ Matt Bahr were on opposing teams.
The Carlsons kicked at Auburn, and neither had missed an attempt through the first four weeks of the 2023 season.
Anders Carlson stayed perfect for Green Bay with field goals of 37 and 22 yards and an extra point on Monday night.
Daniel Carlson made a 26-yard field goal and two extra points for Las Vegas. But he also had a 53-yard field-goal attempt that was tipped at the line of scrimmage and fluttered wide left and the 52-yarder that hit the upright and bounced back into the field. Carlson was the first-team All-Pro kicker for the 2022 season, when he set an NFL record by making 11 field goals of at least 50 yards.
Eight other players from Alabama high schools and colleges were involved in the Green Bay-Las Vegas game:
· Raiders running back Ameer Abdullah (Homewood) had an 11-yard reception and a 4-yard run.

· Rudy Ford (New Hope, Auburn) started at safety for the Packers. Ford made nine tackles and intercepted a pass. Ford picked off Las Vegas quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo on the first possession of the second half and returned it 9 yards to the Raiders 37-yard line. Green Bay turned the takeaway into a touchdown to tie the game at 10-10. Ford’s sixth career interception came eight days after he had gotten his fifth against the Detroit Lions.
