NFL mock drafts 2024: Where will Dallas Turner be picked?
Former Alabama football edge Dallas Turner is expected to be an early pick in the NFL Draft, which begins on Thursday in Detroit.
If the vast majority of mock drafts are to be believed, Turner could be the first Alabama player off the board, in a draft that could see double-digit ex-Crimson Tide picks. Most of the mocks send Turner to the same location, one that sees him remain in the southeast.
Here’s where the expert have Turner going to begin his NFL career.
Mel Kiper Jr., ESPN, Field Yates, ESPN, Matt Miller, ESPN, Will Brinson, CBS Sports, Dane Brugler, The Athletic– No. 8 overall, Atlanta Falcons
It’s actually quite difficult to find a mock draft that doesn’t include Turner coming off the board to the Falcons with the eighth pick. It’s a choice that makes a lot of sense for Atlanta.
The Falcon pass rush was abysmal last season, ranking 21st in the NFL in sacks. The team has whiffed on edge picks before, but Turner appears to be ready to help Atlanta from day one.
Being chosen by the Falcons, who finished 7-10 last season, would place Turner back in a familiar stadium for Alabama players. The Crimson Tide played for the SEC championship at Mercedes-Benz Stadium during two of Turner’s three seasons in Tuscaloosa.
Chad Reuter, NFL.com– No. 12 overall, Denver Broncos
It’s a bit of a challenge to find analysts who believe Turner won’t be a Falcon come draft day. However, it’s not impossible.
Reuter has Turner falling a few picks, though not out of the first half of the first round. He predicts the Broncos will look for a pass rush upgrade at No. 12, rather than taking one of the available quarterbacks.
Connor Rogers, NBC Sports– No. 19 overall, Los Angeles Rams
Another non-Falcons first round prediction for Turner. Rogers has him falling to No. 19 and going to the Los Angeles Rams. He praised the edge’s athleticism, and notes he could be a special player in the NFL if he becomes more versatile.
The Rams went 10-7 last season, before falling to the Lions in the wild card round of the playoffs.
