NFL Friday roundup: Titans QB goes all the way again

Malik Willis went all the way at quarterback for the Tennessee Titans for the second NFL preseason game in a row. The former Auburn signal-caller delivered another victory for the Titans, but with a different kind of performance on Friday night.

In Tennessee’s 24-16 victory over the Minnesota Vikings last week, Willis completed 10-of-17 passes for 85 yards with one touchdown and one interception and ran for 91 yards on 11 carries. He entered Friday night’s game tied for third in the AFC with 113 rushing yards in the preseason.

In the Titans’ 23-7 victory over the New England Patriots on Friday night, Willis ran for 17 yards on eight carries. But he completed 15-of-20 passes for 211 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions.

Willis threw a 12-yard touchdown pass to running back Julius Chestnut as Tennessee took a 13-7 lead with 15 seconds left in the first half. During the 10-play, 90-yard touchdown drive, Willis completed all four of his passes for 84 yards, including a pair of 30-yard completions on third down.

Willis also connected with wide receiver Kearis Jackson for a 26-yard touchdown pass with 14:11 left to play.

Willis went all the way at quarterback with the Titans choosing to keep starter Ryan Tannehill sidelined during the preseason and rookie QB Will Levis missing another game with an injury.

In the two other NFL preseason games on Friday night, the Detroit Lions defeated the Carolina Panthers 26-17 and the Los Angeles Chargers defeated the San Francisco 49ers 23-12.

In addition to Willis, 27 other players from Alabama high schools and colleges got on the field:
