Alexander was penalized for illegal use of his helmet. According to the NFL’s schedule of infractions and fines, $43,709 is the standard fine for a second offense of impermissible use of helmet/launching.
NFL Network reported Alexander was fined for the same infraction last season, although no penalties committed by Alexander were accepted during 2022.
A former Oxford High School standout, Alexander signed with Pittsburgh on July 30. He had been an unrestricted free agent since March 15.
In 2022, Alexander played in 17 games, with 12 starts, for the New York Jets. Alexander had 69 tackles, one-half sack, six tackles for loss, one pass breakup and one forced fumble for New York.
A fourth-round draft pick from LSU in 2015, Alexander was a starter from his first NFL game for the Buccaneers, Alexander led the league in solo tackles in 2016 and earned Pro Bowl recognition in 2017.
