NFL doesn’t ‘chill,’ fines Raiders’ Josh Jacobs again

The NFL fined Las Vegas Raiders running back Josh Jacobs $21,855 one week ago for unnecessary roughness for lowering his helmet to initiate contact on a rushing attempt during a 30-6 victory over the New York Giants on Nov. 5.

The former Alabama ball-carrier responded with a social-media message: “NFL, y’all gotta chill with the bs.”

But the NFL did not “chill.” On Saturday, the league announced Jacobs had been fined the same amount for the same infraction in the Raiders’ 16-12 victory over New York Jets on Sunday night.

This time, the NFL cited a second-quarter carry that gained 5 yards for the fine, and like last week’s fined play, it did not bring a flag on the field.

The NFL announced fines for 27 players for transgressions during Week 10 games. Like Jacobs, two of the other fined players are former Alabama standouts.

Houston Texans defensive end Will Anderson Jr. received a $16,391 fine after being penalized for roughing-the-passer on the first snap of a 30-27 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday.

New England Patriots linebacker Mack Wilson (Carver-Montgomery) received an $8,861 fine for leading with his helmet while taking on Indianapolis offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley during a pitchout by the Colts. No penalty was called on the play, but Wilson left the game, with the Patriots announcing he had a head injury.
