NFL Combine: Which tight end ran fastest on Saturday?

Miami (Fla.)’s Will Mallory recorded the fastest 40-yard dash among the tight ends at the NFL Scouting Combine with a 4.54-second clocking on Saturday.

Old Dominion’s Zack Kuntz clocked in as the second-fastest tight end at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis with a 4.55-second showing. Iowa’s Sam LaPorta was the only other tight end to come in faster than 4.61 seconds at 4.59.

The only player from an Alabama high school or college in the tight-end group at the NFL Scouting Combine was Alabama’s Cameron Latu, but a hamstring injury prevented him from participating in the on-the-field activities on Saturday.

The only other SEC tight end at the NFL Scouting Combine was Georgia’s Darnell Washington. He ran the 40 in 4.64 seconds, which ranked sixth at the position.

In the other measurable drills on Saturday, the leaders among the tight ends included:

Vertical jump: A 40-inch effort by Old Dominion’s Zack Kuntz topped the field of tight ends with Clemson’s Davis Allen the runner-up at 38.5 inches. Miami (Fla.)’s Will Mallory came in third with a 36.5-inch showing.

Broad jump: Old Dominion’s Zack Kuntz also led the tight ends in the broad jump by clearing 128 inches – 10 feet, 8 inches. Kuntz went 1 inch farther than Michigan’s Luke Schoonmaker and 3 inches farther than Oregon State’s Luke Musgrave and Clemson’s Davis Allen.
